It was in Doctoral school that I wanted to learn what held me back. Why did I accept this for so many decades? And it was fear… So I decided to investigate fear…
Dr. Manly details her personal and professional journey, the catalyst of her early investigative research on fear, and what’s driven her to help and heal others. Dr. Manly details the 5 Emotion Paradigm, and provides examples of why fear, sadness, anger, disgust and joy are valuable and productive to human beings. Dr. Deb & Dr. Manly discuss the potential negative impacts of excess news consumption and the notion of shielding your mind from stressful thoughts, and redirecting that energy into something positive and beneficial.
I work with the 5 Emotion Paradigm, which is that we have fear, sadness, anger, disgust and joy. And that all of them are in place for a reason – survival of the species. So they’re all good emotions, anger is not a bad emotion, it is they’re all good, they’re all productive.
